Laser Painting Program makes it possible for individuals with limited mobility to utilize their cognitive skills with the aid of a laser to produce abstract acrylic paintings. A laser affixed to a headband or hand adaption directs a 'Tracker' who works as a neutral tool. The Tracker follows the directions of the red laser dot with a paintbrush on a canvas. Verbal or eye gaze communication is established early in the painting process so that all decisions- from choosing and mixing colors, to brush sizes, or when a painting is completed- is determined by the painter.
Laser Painting Program often works with vision, speech, occupational or physical therapists to maximize the therapeutic as well as enrichment aspects offered by this program. Laser painting makes it possible for this often underserved population to explore a large scale painting experience that provides a sense of joy and accomplishment that many of us take for granted.
